Ever wondered what it might be like to be inside a kaleidoscope?
Well, no need to wonder any longer. At Kaleidostore at the Emerson Country Store in Mt. Tremper, New York you can not only see the world’s largest kaleidoscope, but you can also experience being inside a kaleidoscope!
“Certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s largest at 56 feet long, the concept was designed by award-winning kaleidoscope artist Charles Karadimos, with its initial specially created imagery-based video designed by psychedelic art pioneer Isaac Abrams and his son Raphael, a computer artist. With theater-quality surround sound and a musical score by composer and drummer Gary Burke, the kaleidoscope’s main presentations utilize video playing off a three-dimensional three-mirror system that creates “a precise pyramid tapering from 15 feet at the bottom to five feet at the top, which reflect a constantly evolving virtual sphere with a 50-foot radius.”
The World’s Largest Kaleidoscope is great for all ages! Located in the silo of an old barn that houses the Country Stores at Emerson Resorts, the World’s Largest Kaleidoscope is a completely immersible experience that you won’t soon forget.
Views From Inside The World’s Largest Kaleidoscope
I found it so relaxing, and so stress-relieving. I told my husband when we left the kaleidoscope that I want a life-size kaleidoscope room in our house! That way, whenever I’m feeling stressed or anxious, I can go immerse myself in a kaleidoscope world.
The World’s Largest Kaleidoscope is definitely affordable for families. For children 11 years of age and under, admission is free! For anyone over the age of 12, admission is $5.00 each! And if you are staying at the resort as an overnight guest, admission is free for you too!
But, the fun doesn’t just stop at the World’s Largest Kaleidoscope. When you exit the room containing the kaleidoscope, you find yourself in the Kaleidostore where more fun awaits! Be sure to check out “Infinidi” where you can experience being in a kaleidoscope in a totally different way!
Then head on over to The Kaleidobar, where you can not only view amazing kaleidoscopes that you can buy, but if you are 18 years of age and older, you can actually handle them. These kaleidoscopes are expensive, and are unlike any kaleidoscope you might have had as a child. I was having fun gazing into all the different types there were. Each kaleidoscope offered something unique and different, and I’m glad I was able to take photographs of what I was able to see.
After wandering around the Kaleidostore and viewing all the different kaleidoscopes, be sure to check out the rest of the Country Stores at Emerson Resort.
Located in a vintage converted barn are housed seven amazing different shops offering something for everyone, featuring Hudson Valley artisans and Hudson Valley goods at its finest! The stores include:
- Waldo’s Trading Post
- Emerson The Men’s Shop
- Toy Chest At The Emerson Resort
- Melina’s Boutique
- Emerson Home & Garden
- Ralph’s Cafe
You can definitely get lost in these stores as one store leads directly into another. You will see items that you won’t find anywhere else.
The Country Stores at Emerson Resort is open Sunday-Friday from 9am to 5pm, and Saturdays from 9am to 6pm. My husband and I had so much fun here and we can’t wait to go back! Next time we are bringing my sister-in-law with us.
After we explored the Country Stores, we headed into Woodstock to get lunch. I’m always looking for new gluten-free places to eat, and Woodstock offers a ton of selections! Using my trusty app, FindMeGlutenFree.com I was easily able to find us someplace to eat.
For lunch we stopped at Catskill Mountain Pizza. We had amazing wings and gluten-free pizza! They offer many different types of gourmet pizza, and my husband and I decided to try the Bonanza which featured crispy bacon, ricotta cheese, romano cheese, mozzarella cheese, mushrooms, onions, and fresh garlic. We had it without the mushrooms and it was absolutely delicious!!! If you are in the area and are looking for excellent gluten-free pizza definitely stop by Catskill Mountain Pizza.
Not only is the food delicious, but the atmosphere is amazing. There are beautiful works of art, which are for sale, showcased on the walls.
I had such an amazing, fun-filled day! This is the first time in I can’t tell you how many days that I didn’t feel anxious at all. I definitely need to get myself a kaleidoscope!
See the world with kaleidoscope eyes!
