The Power Of An Amazing Workout

About 4-5 times a week my husband and I go to the gym for a 1/2 hour workout.  I usually stick to cardio machines because they give me that exercise high and make me feel good.  I don’t usually do weight machines as they don’t provide me with that high.  But all that changed yesterday.

The other day our gym got new weight machines!  Up till now our gym has exclusively used Precor machines, but these new weight machines are made by Hoist.  Not only do they look really well made, but they are completely different than the Precor machines that we have previously had.

The other day when we went to the gym the machines were not set-up to use yet, so I just wandered around looking at them.  I noticed some machines that were completely different than anything we have had at our gym before, like a rowing machine, but mostly everything else just looked like updates to our current machines.

Yesterday when we got to the gym, the new machines were all set-up!  I was so excited.  I immediately tried the rowing machine (which I loved).  But, here’s the amazing thing.  The ENTIRE machine moves!  The seat moves as you do the exercise to help not only assist, but provide you with more support, and help you make sure you are working the correct muscles.  There are no static parts!  I soon realized that all the other new machines worked the same exact way!!!  So what did I do?  I worked my way down the line doing 3 sets of 10 reps on each machine to give myself a full body workout.  All of a sudden weights weren’t just about lifting, it was fun too!  I felt good!  Honestly, I felt like I was on a carnival ride most of the times, so that just added to the fun factor.

Here’s the neat part.  I had no idea how much time had gone by!  I was having so much fun!  And I don’t usually experience this with weight machines.  As I finished up trying each machine, I saw my husband get off of the Elliptical he was using.  “We’re done?”  I asked him, and he nodded.  “That was 30 minutes?”  I asked incredulously.  “That was 40 minutes.”  He told me.  What?!?!?!  I couldn’t believe it.  I had been having so much fun that the time just ran away from me.

At the end of my workout I felt so good!  I felt energized.  I felt that exercise high that I’m always chasing.  Actually, I felt the best that I have felt in a long time after a workout.  It was amazing!!!funexercisespicAnd this morning I can feel all the work I did in my muscles.  Nothing bad, it just feels good.  Like I really worked my muscles and got an excellent workout in.  Just because you’re exercising doesn’t mean it has to be “work”.  It can be fun too, and I think that’s so important because if it’s fun you will stick with it.  Not to mention that working out is AMAZING for your mental health!  I know if too many days go by and I don’t get a workout in, I tend to get depressed.

Exercising is a huge part of my M.U.D. Life!  I can’t wait to go back to the gym and use the new machines again.
