Connect To Something Bigger

Hi everyone!  I am absolutely bursting with news today.

First off, you might have noticed that MyMudLife.org looks a little different today.  That’s because we finally got an official logo (which is AWESOME by the way) and I did a website redesign around it.cropped-mud_v1.pngI am absolutely LOVING our new logo.  It was designed by an amazing artist named Phoebe who lives in the UK.  If you are looking for any kind of graphic design work, I highly recommend her.

I do graphic design work myself, but when it came to M.U.D. I was at a loss of what type of logo to do.  Nothing I was making was matching up with the vision I had in my head.  I found Phoebe on Fivver and I absolutely loved her work, and her excellent reviews.  I sent her a message with all my ideas, and now we have our amazing logo!

There is so much meaning behind this logo.  If you aren’t into hiking, the rocks on the side of the logo are called cairns (or as my father-in-law calls them, ducts).  There is a blog called Keri Wyatt Kent that describes the symbolism of cairns so beautifully:

“Cairns are small piles of rock, set along the path. They do not tell you which trail you’re on, or have an arrow pointing out a direction. They simply mark the path.

Cairns are not permanent. Anyone could easily dissemble them. But there is a camaraderie of hikers on a shared mission. Although we’ve never met the people who assembled these small structures, we trust them. Following them requires that we pay attention. They simply let you know you’re on the path, but don’t necessarily direct you. Still, we follow and protect these markers, like a trail of breadcrumbs that birds cannot eat.

And where we can, we build some—contributing to the collective wisdom of hikers, showing others the way.”

I think cairns symbolize the M.U.D. lifestyle so perfectly.  The M.U.D. lifestyle is all about making your own Mindful Unique Decisions.  We are all on our own paths, but somehow we all met here on this blog.  I share the story of my M.U.D. life on here, but I encourage you to live your own M.U.D. life and find what works uniquely for you.  M.U.D. is all about exploring and trusting your journey.  All of which cairns symbolize.  And, M.U.D. is all about sharing ideas and learning from each other.  We are all on a shared mission, and with M.U.D. that means living the best life we can.

And now to the next big piece of news.  The M.U.D. Life store has been redesigned as well to feature our new logo!  10% of all profits will be donated to BeyondCeliac.org.  Their mission is to “unite with patients and partners to drive diagnosis, advance research and accelerate the discovery of new treatments and a cure.”

As you all know, learning that I had a problem with gluten completely changed my life for the better.  Whether I have Celiac Disease or a gluten sensitivity, I am not sure.  But, what I do know is that living gluten-free has made a world of difference for me and I am passionate about supporting and advocating for the Celiac community.  Stop by the NEW M.U.D. Life store and check out all the awesome redesigned products (tees and stickers) featuring our new logo!

Bravelet

The last piece of news is that I also teamed up with Bravelets.  I love what this company stands for:

“Our mission is to help people be brave during hard times.  There are times in all of our lives where we need to be brave – whether for ourselves, for our family, for our friends, or even for a complete stranger. Bravelets bracelets are more than just something to wear on your wrist. All Bravelets jewelry and accessories are symbols of hope, strength and courage. They are designed to help you be brave in the toughest of times.

Bravelets is not a non-profit organization. We are a for-profit company with giving at our core.

To date, we have raised almost $3 million for thousands of very deserving causes.

We believe in transparency. We believe in making a difference. We don’t believe in the phrase “a portion of proceeds will be donated….”. What does that mean? What portion, what proceeds? That kind of giving is confusing and unfulfilling to the customer. Our giving is clear, transparent, and easy to understand. When buying a product from Bravelets, you always know the exact amount being donated, and exactly where it is going. We want you to be confident in your purchase, and proud to have made a difference.”

180x115Through my Bravelets M.U.D. page 10% of profits will be donated to NEDA (National Eating Disorders Association).  Green and Blue (the colors the bracelets are offered in) are the official colors of NEDA.  The whole reason that I am even living my M.U.D. life is because I sought help for my eating disorder 2 1/2 years ago.  Working with my health coach completely changed my life, my husband’s life, and put us both on a totally different path than we ever could have imagined.  We are living the most amazing life now, and learning new things each day.  My whole outlook on life has changed all because I sought help.  I am very very passionate about NEDA and I am glad to be able to support them in whatever way I can.

Part of M.U.D. is all about connecting to something bigger than yourself.  I think I am doing that, not just through my blog by connecting with others, but also by donating what I can to help causes that I am extremely passionate about.  BeyondCeliac.org and NEDA are two causes I am proud to stand behind.  It’s part of my M.U.D. life.

Thank you again to M.U.D.’s amazing graphic designer!
