Boost Your Mood

Today is one of those days where I just can’t get myself going.  So you know what I do?  I don’t reach for caffeine or sugar.  Instead I reach for my essential oils.

Essential oils are AMAZING for helping to turn your mood around.  Whether you are feeling sad, depressed, tired… there’s always an oil that can help.

“Smell is the strongest of the senses and is best able to influence brain activity. Olfactory bulbs are part of the limbic system and directly connect to the areas of the brain that process emotion and learning.”

There are lots of essential oil companies out there, but do your research.  I LOVE Young Living.  For more information on Young Living check out my previous post, It’s Raining… Let’s Diffuse!.

So, what oil or oils am I going to reach for today?  There’s so many to choose from.  Three of my favorites are:

Stress Away

Stress Away smells AMAZING!  It is an essential oil blend made from Copaiba, Lime, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Ocotea, and Lavender.  It is extremely calming and uplifting.  This is one oil that I always carry with me.

Stress Away is an essential oil blend, so how do all these oils come together to create an uplifting scent?  The blending of oils that work together to create something greater than the sum of their individual effects is called Synergy.

“More powerful therapeutic results are often obtained when essential oils are blended together than when used individually. This blending of two or more essential oils results in completely new compounds being formed.

Synergy blends have been created in order to promote specific benefits such as for relaxing, sensual, alertness, respiratory or applications for use in pain.

When you blend essential oils together the chemical constituents in individual oil can have a mutually enhancing effect on the others.”

In the case of Stress Away, it’s components come together to create an Synergistic blend that is calming and uplifting.  Each of the oils in this blend are used individually to calm and boost your mood.  Combined together their effects are greater than if you used them on their own.

Another Synergistic blend that I love is Joy.

Joy

At first I wasn’t a huge fan of Joy because it has a very floral scent.  But, the more I used it, the more I saw how it improved my mood, and the more I loved it.  Joy is a synergistic blend made up of Bergamot, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Lemon, Coriander, Tangerine, Jasmine, Roman Chamomile, Palmarosa, and Rose.  Young Living describes Joy as,

“A sweet-smelling blend of harmonizing essential oils, Joy’s aroma invites a sense of
romance, bliss, and warmth when diffused. When worn as a fragrance, it invites
togetherness.”

Sacred Mountain

Sacred Mountain is one of my absolute favorite Synergistic blends, and I think it’s mainly because it reminds me of being outdoors in the forest.  Young Living describes it as,

“A blend of Ylang Ylang and conifer oils that evokes the sense of sanctity found in nature and promotes feelings of strength, empowerment, grounding, and protection when diffused.”

I agree with all of that because that’s exactly how Sacred Mountain makes me feel.  Sacred Mountain is made up of Picea mariana (Black spruce) leaf oil, Cananga odorata (Ylang ylang) flower oil, Abies balsamea (Balsam Canada) needle oil, and Cedrus atlantica (Cedarwood) bark oil.  Those are all very earthy oils and if you want to be reminded of a nice calming walk in the woods try Sacred Mountain.

And yet even another way to take an oil with you is to wear an aromatherapy necklace, bracelet or earrings.  I love Sacred Arrow’s aromatherapy jewelry.  Their products are so beautiful, there are so many choices, and I love their nape diffuser necklaces.  I highly recommend Sacred Arrow if you are looking for a quality piece of aromatherapy jewelry.

So the next time you are feeling a little sluggish, like you can’t get going for the day, don’t reach for sugar or coffee.  Reach for a bottle of essential oil!  It’s natural.  It smells amazing.  And essential oils have so many positive, great benefits for not only our health, but also our mood and emotions!  Essential oils can literally help turn your day around.
