I bet you’re probably thinking that M.U.D. is a weird name for a lifestyle blog, and in a lot of ways you are right. M.U.D…. it’s dirty, it gets everywhere, it’s hard to clean up. But, you know what else it is? It’s earthy, it’s grounding, it’s natural. M.U.D. helps you connect to something larger than yourself.
The M.U.D. Life means living with Mindful Unique Decisions. What does that mean exactly? It means embracing life wide open. It’s about living a natural, healthy lifestyle. It’s about constantly learning, growing and exploring all that is around you. It’s about LIVING life not just experiencing it. Let’s break down what the M.U.D. Lifestyle is.
First off, M.U.D. is a lifestyle not a diet. What does that mean exactly?
The word “diet” makes you think so many negative things. For me, it makes me think of restricting, cutting back, trying something for a little while. It makes me think of Weight Watchers and Atkins and all the other diets that are out there. “Diet” is like a short-term goal. It’s small changes that eventually help you to lose weight.
A “lifestyle” on the other hand is so positive. It’s making big changes, taking small steps that lead to a whole new life. It’s about more than just food and exercise. It’s about embracing life and living the best life you can. It’s not short-term nor is it quick. Committing to a lifestyle means you are changing everything about the way you live and willing to constantly grow and learn. A lifestyle is not about restriction. It’s not about cutting back. It’s about change… lots of changes.
M.U.D. consists of three parts:
Mindful = Everyday you are aware. Living the M.U.D. Lifestyle with mindfulness helps you to be aware of the positive changes you are making and helps you connect to something larger than yourself. You are aware of the world around you. You find something everyday to be thankful for.
Unique = Your journey is unique to you. You are your own person. You have your own beliefs, passions, thoughts, memories. Living the M.U.D. lifestyle with uniqueness means embracing who you are as a person. There is no one else like you. It’s about exploring all that makes you you and makes you happy.
Decisions = Everyday you are faced with decisions. Some can lead to big changes others can lead to small changes. Some can lead to good things, others can lead you down a bad path. It’s all up to you. It’s your own Choose-Your-Own-Adventure book and you are the author. Being aware of the decisions that you make helps you to see the progress you are making. Did you choose to eat at home instead of eating out? Did you decide to go to the gym even though you felt like staying in bed? Living the M.U.D. Lifestyle means you are focusing on the building blocks (i.e. the good decisions) you make every single day and being proud of your successes, and acknowledging where you can improve.
